About Savannah

Savannah Barnes has been passionate about the healing arts most of her life. Like many in these fields, she came to it in order to heal herself. She earned a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree from Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe and is a licensed Acupuncturist in the state of Montana. Her studies included internships at the Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center’s Oncology treatment center and rehabilitation wing as well as at The Life Link (homeless) transitional living facility and a low-income preschool. Never one to quit learning, Savannah has pursued advanced training in Acupuncture for Hospice and Palliative Care and to treat addictions.

Widely known for establishing strong patient rapport and applying gentle needle techniques, Savannah’s recent successes include treatments for multiple sclerosis, sciatica, kidney stones, hypertension, neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, anxiety, insomnia, depression, phantom leg pain, shingles, Bell’s Palsy, post-stroke aphasia, back pain, knee pain, and more.

Savannah also taught yoga at The Breathing Room in Livingston. She leads Yoga for those Healing from Cancer, a free class offered through the Park County Cancer Alliance. On occasion, she teaches Restorative Yoga, a gentle class using lots of props to allow the body and mind to open gracefully to a state of deep relaxation.

In addition to her career as a dedicated health care professional, Savannah is also an accomplished writer. She has an MFA in English and was recently featured in The Sun Magazine with her lead article, “A Test of Our Compassion: Louisa Willcox & David Mattson on the Plight of Grizzly Bears.”

Why Sagebrush?

There is no better place to live than in the West. Each time I have left, it never lasts long because the smell of sagebrush calls me home. These mountains, these rivers, these sacred open wild places are what feeds me in the most meaningful way. Add a dog, and life is good.

Sagebrush also has extraordinarily deep taproots. It can live up to 200 years, and each plant offers resources that sustain a wide array of life. Kind of reminds me of how acupuncture works in the body by recognizing that everything about us is interconnected, that we are more than one symptom or disease. The practice is to restore the harmony of the whole person.

Testimonials

“Savannah is a gifted, well-studied healer. I was very lucky to have her perform acupuncture on me after an injury. She is very professional and made me feel at ease. I have also taken private yoga classes from Savannah. Even though I have practiced yoga for 15+ years, she was still able to teach and correct my alignment in ways I have never been taught before. Savannah is very intuitive and an amazing healer. I would highly recommend visiting her practice Sagebrush Acupuncture to see how Savannah’s healing touch can promote whole body wellness for you.”
